Amidst one of Costa Rica’s March swells, three Costa Rican surfers, Andrea Diaz, Gilbert Brown and Nino Myrie promised each other to share their successful surfing gift with others, and as they say, the rest is history.

Dubbed the “Costa Rican Surfing All-Stars”, the three amigos wanted to ensure that all their guests left Costa Rica feeling like they had the experience of a lifetime. The one key factor that sets this school apart from all other surf school is the surfers live the life of Pura Vida. Challenging each other to be the best that they can be and treat the world with respect is their motto which has been translated into the surf school that they run. Planning each surf expedition to provide the maximum experience, the trio are dedicated to ensuring each person leaves their camp with the best surfing experience.

This dedication and perfection was quickly noticed by surf giants Roxy and Quiksilver who wanted to be associated with such genuine surfers. In addition, the surf schools commitment to social responsibility in the community including support of impoverished children and Special Olympics was the icing on the cake, making the Waves Surf School the only Roxy/Quiksilver Surf Camp in Latin America. Based out of the lower level of the Best Western Tamarindo Vista Villas hotel, the Surf Camp is centrally located for visitors to enjoy the surrounding culture after their expedition. In addition the Waves Surf Camp runs a shop that provides everything a surfer needs, including sun protection, clothing, wax and rash guards.

Lessons at the Surf Camp are broken down into three levels, beginner, intermediate and advanced. The camp also provides family packages, couple packages and all girl packages.
