Bahia Salinas Beach
Perfect Beach for Windsurfing and Kit Boarding
Bahia Salinas is a remote beach close to the Nicaraguan border with scenic views and untouched sand, perfect for world class wind surfing and kite boarding with its constant winds. Strongest winds blow from November through March.
Activities include wind or kite surfing lessons, as well as fishing, kayaking, mountain biking and sunset boat tours. On the opposite side of the bay there are several crescent-shaped beaches that are less windy for sun bathing. Its also a location for day tours to colonial cities in Nicaragua. Nearby is is Santa Rosa National Park, home to 250 bird species, while Isla Bolanos which sits in the middle of the bay is a national wildlife refuge and sanctuary for the brown pelican, American ostercatcher and other seabirds.
Access is from Liberia about an hour and half away, from La Cruz a dirt road leads down to the bay.
