 Surf Schools Grow

Costa Rica Nosara SurfNosara, the once sleepy hollow known only to local surfers for its great conditions and reliable weather, as been discovered by the masses, resulting in a surge of surf schools eager to teach those new to the waves a thing or two.

The beaches and beautiful jade-green waters are a natural attraction for visitors to this region of Costa Rica but now the news is out… its a great place to learn how to surf. With almost perfect wave conditions, not too rough, not  too big and with the beautiful surrounding jungle, Nosara is surf central these days.

Most notably, the Sarafi Surf School, http://safarisurfschool.com/ accredited by Billabong and Simply Surf, http://surfsimply.com/ which combines surfing with some beautiful accommodations to provide visitors with the complete Nosara experience.

Local Tico Become Entrepreneurs

With ideal conditions and surroundings, there is a surge by locals to open their own schools to cater to the influx of people discovering the region. One such entrepreneur is local Juan Surfo who opened El Punto http://www.surfocostarica.com/SurfoCostaRica.com/JUAN_SURFO.html and Soda Hola, a restaurant catering to the surfing crowd. With most surf schools owned by Gringos and Ticos working for them, there is a change in the wind, inspiring locals to open their own schools as tourists begin to recognize the region.

For Luis Montiel, a local who competes nationally, owing his own school together with Esteban Lopez has been a dream come true. The pair, both native to Nosara opened the Nosara Tico Surf School. Connecting with such establishments as the Del Mar Academy, referrals keep the businesses thriving.

Today, Nosara is home to 10 surf schools. The players include Safari Surf School, Surf Divas and Corky Carroll’s. With local new players Nosara Tico Surf School on board, the surfing community can only benefit from the thriving entrepreneurship. Things can only get better in Nosara , Pura Vida surfers!
