Who Will You Be Routing For?

Costa Rica Super BowlAs the countdown to the epic Super Bowl  XLVI 2012 begins, with only 3 days left until the New York Giants and the New England Patriots meet at center field to kick off the game, many of us are still in the planning stages of deciding how and where we should celebrate the annual ode to football.

Just because you are in Costa Rica doesn’t mean that you take partake in some great Super Bowl events. As with any major world event….. Costa Rica is not immune from celebrating the pinnicle game of American football. As a country that is host to many ex-pats from the U.S. and Canada where football is a staple of life, right up there with beer, Costa Rican establishments like any other in the world are gearing up for an evening of beer and wings!

Football’s biggest game event of the year will be played on Sunday February 5th, 2012 and for many fans and non-fans, it is a chance to party, plain and simple. There are so many establishments in Costa Rica that are having events to celebrate the ultimate game of football. Hotels have arranged special Super Bowl events, bars and restaurants are providing specials on beer and wings as patrons will have the opportunity to see the game on big screen televisions. From San Jose to Tamarindo, the last minute preparations are being made to accomodate tourists, ex-pats and locals who are excited to see two of the best quarterbacks, Tom Brady and Eli Manning square off. For Eli Manning, there will be additional pressure, playing in the stadium where his brother, Peyton Manning played many a game, the Lucas Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In addition to the game, the Super Bowl is about the commercials. Millions are being spent on innovative, memorable and outrageous commercials by corporate companies. Not only is the Super Bowl a match up of the best of American football teams, it is also the Super Bowl of the corporate world who have a once a year opportunity to showcase some of their best and creative advertisements for their products. The commercials are just as talked about as the teams playing the game!

If you don’t care about the game but just want to get out and eat, there will be so much to choose from. The staple of beer and wings is always a hit. Nachos go down smoothly as well. Burgers and fries are also great washed down with a beer or two. Regardless of who is your favorite team, who you think will win, Costa Rica is a great spot to watch the game and enjoy some Super Bowl festivities. If you are not interested in seeing the game from a venue, the local Amnet cable will be providing subscribers with the opportunity of seeing the game on Channel 25. Check your local listings for game time and enjoy the XLVI Super Bowl Pura Vida style!
