The Vuelta Ciclista a Costa Rica also known as Tour of Costa Rica has brought out the best of the best cyclists challenging them across the countryside of Costa Rica. Defending champion Juan Carlos Rojas has managed to continue to impress despite some heavy competition.

In the recent leg of the race, a stretch between Liberia and Ciudad Quesada, approximately 207 miles, Rojas managed to save the best for the end and powered through the last part of the leg when others seemed to have lost their strength. Coming in third behind leader Ruben Companioni from Cuba who  won the leg and fellow Tico Paulo Vargas who came in second with a time of 6:06:52, Juan Carlos Rojas, the defending champion showed that he is not out of the game.

Cycling Event Held Annually

The event, in its 47th year has brought the best cyclists from Central America and other countries to compete on the stage, providing spectators with an opportunity to see some of the best cyclists under some of the worst conditions. Even the leader to this leg, Paul Mudarra struggled, lending the victory of this leg to Companioni.

For Rojas, the impressive result in this leg of the race has given him the psychological edge to continue to challenge those in the running for this year’s championship. As the defending winner, Rojas is determined to give the other cyclists a run for their money. The shear length of the completed leg was a strategy in rationing strength and the last few meters seemed to separate the riders. Those with that last burst of strength were able to forge on, including Rojas.

This leg was also challenging with a long flight that included 21 cyclists to the starting point, falls and spills, including a withdrawal by Neiza Mauritius who was unable to continue as a result of his injuries.

The Vuelta Ciclista a Costa Rica is a great opportunity for spectators to get a feel for a cycling event. Visit the event’s website at http://www.fecoci.net/2010/ for additional information and leg schedules. Costa Rica is filled with a variety of adventures and a great place to enjoy cycling. In this case however, you need to be prepared to peddle with the best!

  1. I had two great photo tours in France, one in the night and the other in the daytime. I learned a great deal about photography as well as how to identify a picture in a scene, composition, and camera settings. David tuned right into me and my skill level and knew how to teach me what I most needed to learn. He was wonderful, even taking a subway to a hardware store in order to fix a technical problem with the camera I had brought with me, and bringing an umbrella because it was raining on the second day. I recommend this service to anyone interested in good service http://www.privatetoursinistanbul.com great photography, and a wonderful learning experience also we attend all tours in France especially in Paris.
