Don’t Go To Samara Beach

Costa Rica Samara BeachLocated on the Pacific Ocean side of Costa Rica, this unspoiled long white sand beach is enough to draw tourists to this beach resort town, but for many, this off the tourist trap radar map is where they come to see the spectacular coral reef…. it’s not just your typical beach town.

Located on the Nicoya Peninsula, this small town has its main road leading directly to the beach so you can’t miss it. Once on the beach, the white sand stretches for about six kilometers….with a view of the small wooded island known as Isla Chora. The water in this area is a perfect opportunity for swimming and relaxing.

As a beach town there are many restaurants, shops and bars to enjoy. With sand floors in most of these establishments and great tunes playing, including a beach front disco, you are bound to enjoy the night life.

Samara Beach Under The Radar

The chest-deep water and easy surf conditions in the bay make it a great spot for beginners learning how to surf. If you are in need of challenge, Playa Camaronal located 12kms away is home to conditions suited for an experienced surfer.

Land activities include taking a horseback ride to the Tobacco waterfalls or a canopy tour in Santo Domingo, 3kms from Samara beach.  Watersports include windsurfing, kayaking and some sportfishing. With fishing a thriving industry in the region, sunsets are magic as boats make their way home before the dark skies arrival. In addition to an active fishing community, the are is also cowboy country with many cattle ranches surrounding the beach town.

Costa Ricans have long been in love with Samara Beach, many visiting during their vacation periods or weekend excursions. For those of us travelling through Costa Rica, don’t go to Samara Beach, we want to keep this Costa Rica beach a secret and have it all to ourselves!
