Surrealistic Costa Rica Artist Cynthia Saenz Edgy

Costa Rica Art Cynthia SaenzBorn in San José, Costa Rica, Cynthia Saenz grew up on a farm where she developed great sensitivity to animals, especially horses, finding something beautiful and mysterious in their way of being. Self-taught, she studied advertising design at the University Veritas and received some art lessons to refine her talent. Her technique and painting style has been referred to as mystical realism or surrealism, showing strong horses, women intertwined with horses, faces within magical horses, and animals fighting bulls defined or diffusely.

This Costa Rican artist likes to experiment with different mediums in works with concepts and different themes. Techniques used are mainly acrylic and chalk pastel,  Ms, Saenz also realizes in charcoal, pen and ink.

Specialties are thematic equine portraits, that make you feel as you are an up close observer of these special animals. Her artwork brings them to life, showcasing how they move and act,  with such realism in Ms. Saenz work that you just want to reach out and touch these exceptional pieces of artwork.

As an international artist, Cynthia Saenz’s artwork has been seen in the U.S., Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Switzerland, and of course Costa Rica.
