Finca San Miguel a Hidden Costa Rica Gem

Finca San Miguel Costa Rica

Just when you think that you have seen all the possibilities for Costa Rica hotels, be prepared to be part of something so awe inspiring it will change the way you see the world!

Perched high in the green mountains in Costa Rica’s southern zone, south of Perez Zeledon is a small lodge called Finca San Miguel. Situated on 19 hectares in a small coffee town called Zapotal de San Pedro, this small lodge is rural tourism at its best.

Zapotal de San Pedro is situated near the crossroads of Costa Rica southern Pacific beaches and the highest peak in Costa Rica, Chirripo. Despite this proximity to several large tourist areas, this area is often by passed by tourists. To add salt to the wound, Costa Rica’s Tourism Board does not market or endorse the area, resulting in very little to no promotion for the area.

But what is not known to the masses is a secret that only a few may want to share. The lodge is very rustic accessed by a steep dirt road that sometimes forces four wheel vehicles to stop a short distance from the entrance due to the steepness of the road.

Still a working plantation, the accomodations include one guesthouse that sleeps about 14 people. The main house has three bedrooms, a living room area, a dining room and hot running water for the bathroom facilities. The accomodations are perfect for a group of hikers or a couple looking to get away from it all. Just a few steps away from the lodging is the finca restaurant where you will be well fed while enjoying a panoramic view of the surrounding breathtaking mountain range.

Finca San Miguel Seven Waterfall Magic

In addition to the beautiful surroundings, the property boosts seven waterfalls, with five accessed by rappelling tours run by the Quiros family who own the property. Where in Costa Rica can you wake up, have breakfast, hike up the mountain side and then rapelling down one of the waterfalls for lunch!  - brought to you by CostaRicaCLOSEUP.com
