One of the most popular places to surf in Costa Rica is Tamarindo. Centrally located it is easily accessible to a wide variety of surf breaks for all skill levels. It is a great spot to use as a base for surfing the north and south regions of the Tamarindo, Costa Rica area.

Tamarindo’s surf includes river mouth, reef breaks and beach. More challenging breaks are at Longosta. The reef breaks are at Witches Rock and Ollie’s Point.  The most popular area to surf in this region however is the break between Witches Rock in the north and Playa Negra to the south. This area provides the most surf.

Drawing a large tourist base, Tamarindo is a small beach town that draws a variety of water loving visitors including surfers of course but also fishermen, scuba divers, beach lovers and nature enthusiasts as Tamarindo lies between two wildlife national parks.

In addition to water activity, as a surfer community there is alot of fun available and after a day of surfing and beach, there is no better place to enjoy some fun than the Monkey Bar at the Tamarindo Vista Villas. It is a spot to have some fun and watch the sunset at the swim up pool bar. Live entertainment and drink specials and dancing are combined to make this a memorable experience.

Additional attractions in Tamarindo include a boat trip to Witches Rock and Ollie’s Point where secret surf spots are accessed by guides. Deep sea fishing for tuna, sailfish and mahi mahi charters are available. The Rincon de la Vieja National Park cannot be missed.
